"Sharing" the Gospel

I was reading this morning in Our Heritage: A Brief History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I found a quote I really like:
"There are pages of history yet to be written.  We each have an opportunity to leave a heritage for generations to follow that will help them understand the joy of living and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ."
As I recorded this in my journal, a new understanding came to me.  "Sharing" does not necessarily always have to mean "preaching."  (Although that is one very important component.)  Sharing can mean just what it says--sharing in the gospel together.  Speaking of it with others everyday because that makes us happy.  Helping, lifting, and being lifted.  Teaching and learning by word and example.  Asking for and giving forgiveness.

Smiling.

Being honest and forth right, but showing respect for those aspects of life that need not be shared with everyone.  Keeping confidences and giving hugs.  Lending an ear, a hand, a shoulder to cry on as we all figure out this life together with the gospel of Jesus Christ as our lodestar.
